After 5 years of the Olympic distance Triathlon event, triathletes wanted a sprint at this rural getaway town. The race is at Naylor's Beach Campground in Warsaw, VA which is near Tappahannock on the Rappahannock River about 30 miles North of Mechanicsville and just east of Richmond, the view is beautiful, the fall weather is ideal! River temps normally in the mid 70's, wetsuit eligible. This is the cleanest river in Virginia! It's 2hrs from DC and VABeach!
Race #5 in the RMS triathlon series, see Triathlon series for details on the RMS homepage.
Camping is available as well as local hotels and B&Bs.
The swim is in the beautiful Rappahannock River, bike is rolling, rural, and the run is pretty flat yet sunny. This tri offers a plythera of categories: 2 or 3 person relays, aquabike (swim/bike only), Clydesdale (200 lbs) /Athenas (150 lbs), and individuals. There is something for everyone to be able to participate!
Back again in ‘10 is the Aquabike Division! Racers will still do the swim and the Bike, but instead of going on to the run, they will finish the race. This division is perfect for those not able to run or for those who are not quite ready for the full Olympic triathlon experience.
